Essay Prize 2026

The journal is delighted to reopen submissions for its annual Essay Prize following a pause in 2025. As in previous years, £500 will be awarded to the best essay published in the journal each year.

Eligibility for 2026

Articles accepted or published in the journal between 1 October 2025 and September 2026 are eligible for consideration, including articles published in special issues.

The prize is open to early career researchers, defined as scholars within five years of their thesis defence at the time their article is accepted by the journal.

Selection and Announcement

The winner will be selected by the journal's Honorary Editorial Board, with the announcement made before the end of 2026.
