The European Review of History / Revue européenne d'histoire is an international peer-reviewed journal for research on Europe from the early modern period to the present. It provides a forum for historians to think about Europe across national boundaries and to consider its place in a wider world.

We understand Europe broadly as a geographical and political space whose boundaries, cultures and identities have been shaped and contested over time. As such, the journal welcomes research that connects histories across borders and asks what individual places, events and experiences can tell us about Europe more widely.

Founded in 1993 by the European Association of Young Historians, the European Review of History has a long association with emerging scholarship. We want the journal to represent the breadth of people and academic traditions working in European history today, and we welcome submissions from established and early-career researchers, and particularly encourage scholars for whom English is not a first language. Each year, our Early Career Prize recognises an outstanding article published in the journal.

We also publish book reviews, Special Issues and dossiers, giving historians space to develop conversations that extend beyond a single article. The journal is published six times a year by Taylor & Francis.
